June Marks the Celebration of Fatherhood

From teaching you to ride a bike to walking you down the aisle, fathers have a special place in all of our hearts, so be sure to show them how special they are this Father’s Day! We will celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16 this year, however not all countries will.

Father’s Day Traditions
Dads traditionally participate in a 21km run through the capital city.

It is a tradition for dads to sleep in and enjoy their favorite breakfast.

Father’s Day is celebrated on the 6th Sunday after Easter by commencing in all-male activities such as hiking, biking, and drinking.

Father’s Day is celebrated on the Birthday of Kin Bhumibol, December 5, who is considered the “Father of the Nation.”

South Africa
Much like the US, it is tradition to present father’s with gifts and cards on Father’s Day and enjoy fishing or picnicking with family.

Children traditionally gather flowers, handmade beer glasses and sweets to present to their father’s. Father’s Day is held on the 3rd Sunday in June.

Father’s Day traditions began as a military commemoration known as the “Defender of the Fatherland Day” that now honors all men throughout Russia with parades and gifts.

Plan an extra special day for your father or create a tradition of your own.

Regardless of how you plan to honor your father, the most important thing about Father’s Day is to make sure your dad feels appreciated. If you are still looking for something local to do, check out these fun events below
